We are THE green hotel in Salzburg. And that is only possible from the deepest conviction and with everything that is available to us.
As soon as you enter our house you will feel the dedication to sustainability and realize that a good night's stay is good for us all.

Green power

We source our “clean” electricity from “Ökostrom AG”. “Ökostrom AG” was founded in 1999 with the aim of establishing a sustainable energy industry, supplying customers throughout Austria with green electricity and pushing ahead with the expansion of renewable energy sources. All products and services of “Ökostrom AG” actively contribute to climate and environmental protection and increase the independence of fossil and nuclear energy sources.

Photovoltaic system

Our most obvious move to make our hotel sustainable was to install photovoltaic panels on the roof. In December 2011, the solar panels went on-stream and provide our hotel since then with plenty of energy. The plants deliver up to 11,000 kWh per year. We receive our remaining electricity from the “Salzburg AG”, which supplies us with pure green electricity from renewable energy sources.

Water saving fittings

Our old washbasin taps have consumed 15.2 liters of water per minute. After installing the water saving inserts, we were able to reduce consumption to 7.2 l per minute. In the shower the water consumption was reduced from 14 l to 9 l. With this amount of water and the right shower heads no loss of quality is noticeable.
Total water savings approx. 775m³ of water and energy for water heating approx. 30,000 kWh results in a saved CO2 of 8,500 kg

Corporate Social Responsability

From breakfast to staff management – we make sure to live sustainability in every area of our hotel. How well we succeed in this can be read in our CSR report.

Carbon footprint

Among all eco-friendly hotels, we have the lowest carbon footprint and have therefore obtained the ehc certification. More information about our awards can be found HERE.

LED lighting

To keep our electricity and energy consumption low, we only use LED bulbs and energy-saving lamps for lighting. By using water-saving fittings, we were able to significantly reduce our water consumption and save about 8,500 kg of CO2 in hot water production.

Pellet heating

In the spring of 2014, we decided to replace our oil heater with a pellet heater. This not only enables us to fully heat our hotel, but also to provide the four adjoining houses with heat. As bio-fuel we use wood pellets. This CO2-neutral raw material is obtained from 100% sustainable use.

Thermal solar system

We also use thermal solar panels to generate natural heat for heating our hotel. Our solar thermal system has been on stream since 1999 and reliably supplies our hotel with energy.

Towels made of organic cotton

Our towels and bathmats are made of 100% organic cotton. During production, no toxic and synthetic substances are used.

Our cleansing agent

Our cleaning supplies and shower soaps are sourced from environmentally friendly sources. Our shower gel from ADA is awarded the “ECOLabel”. For the most part, we source our cleansing agents as concentrates in 10 liter canisters, which are mixed with water in our house and made ready for use. So we save a large amount of packaging waste during delivery.

Waste reduction

In order to avoid unnecessary garbage, we also purchase our groceries in large packs and do without PVC packaging at our purely organic breakfast buffet. Of course, we separate and dispose of our garbage conscientiously.

Vegan breakfast

Our vegan breakfast is also part of sustainability. Just like everything else you will find at our rich breakfast buffet.

Bike and e-bike rental

With us you can rent bicycles for a reasonable price and two electric bicycles against prior notice. In the city of Salzburg and the surrounding area there is a very well-developed cycle path network.

Green discount

If you travel by electric car, bicycle or train, you will get a discount on the room rate. More info

If the bike ride is too long for you, but you do not want to miss the environmentally friendly means of transport on holiday, we offer you a bike and e-bike rental service in our hotel.

Charging station

As a special service for our guests, we offer a charging station for electric cars or e-bikes. Detailed information on the specifications of the e-filling station can be found HERE.

We hope to set a good example as a pioneer in sustainability and environmental protection, and will continue to think about how we can further optimize our hotel in this direction.
