After we have already introduced two of the most beautiful Christmas Markets in Salzburg in our last blog article, we will continue similarly atmospheric with even more great Christmas Markets in the region:

Christmas Market at the Mirabellplatz

For those of you who prefer small, atmospheric Christmas Markets far from the turmoil, we recommend the Christmas Market at the Mirabellplatz. Situated very central, in front of the Mirabell Castle and opposite to the Church St. Andrä, you can easily access the Christmas Market by the public means of transport as well as by car. Primarily locals stroll around the artfully decorated booths, experiencing traditional charm, paired with exceptional articles. The musical framework programme ranges from a trombone quartet and a winds quintet to brass music and a baroque brass ensemble. Moreover, the annual lighting of the christmas tree candles and the traditional “Krampuslauf” will take place again. The Christmas Market at the Mirabellplatz is open for visitors from the 23rd of November until the 24th of December.

Adventmarkt St. Leonhard

Also very tranquil and situated offside the urban turmoil is the Adventmarkt St. Leonhard. At the foot of the Mount Untersberg, directly next to the pilgrimage church, numerous booths are stringing together and since 1973, art handicrafts from Austria, Bavaria and South Tyrol has been offered here. Moreover, beautiful gifts like candles, woodcarvings and Christmas decoration of glass, straw or ceramics created by school communities, communities of women and people with disabilities are waiting for you. From the earnings of the selling, counseling is funded. The Adventmarkt St. Leonhard has already collected more than three million Euros altogether for charitable donations. The romantic Christmas Market is rounded off by a programme consisting of musical festive services, brass music and a Christmas bakery for children. The Christmas Market takes place from the 25th of November until the 17th of December, but only at the weekends.

Bauernadvent Glanegg

A real insider tip for young and old is the Bauernadvent Glanegg, also located at the foot of the Mount Untersberg. In the middle of the historical Mayr-Melnhof grange near the Castle Glanegg lies the small but extraordinary farmer’s market hidden. Here, you will find products from the grange family’s own agriculture and hunt as well as the finest pastries from the regional farmwomen and traditional art handicraft of wood and deer. The programme contains brass music, a visit of the Krampus and St. Nicholas, an atmospheric wood fire as well as romantic carriage round rides at the foot of the mountain. You can visit the farmer’s market on the weekends of the 2nd and 3rd of December, the 9th and 10th of December and the 16th and 17th of December.
